The Widow’s Offering
“Jesus sat down near the collection box in the Temple and watched as the crowds dropped in their money. Many rich people put in large amounts. Then a poor widow came and dropped in two small coins. Jesus called his disciples to him and said, ‘I tell you the truth, this poor widow has given more than all the others who are making contributions. For they gave a tiny part of their surplus, but she, poor as she is, has given everything she had to live on.'”
-Mark 12:41-44 NLT
When giving money back to God, it’s not about the amount we give but the heart behind it. God allows us to partner with Him and that is a great privilege. He promises to provide for us and return our tithes and offerings back to us with great blessings. That doesn’t necessarily mean we get more money back if we give (although God can and does do that), it simply means that he cares about our generosity and rewards those who give. The fact that Jesus sat near the collection box tells us that God cares about how we steward the financial gifts he has given us.
What For?
At Jefferson St, we strive to be a community that is generous. By giving to Jefferson St, you ensure that we can reach our local community and continue to grow together. We have opportunities to give financially each Sunday in person. The money you donate is used to help those in our community and to fund our serve programs!
How Do I?
